With the release of the new Frankenstein film this November now seems like a good time to introduce you all to the wonderful Babylit series. This beautiful collection of reworked mini classics is the creation of Author Jennifer Adams and illustrator Alison Oliver, who I was lucky enough to interview on my second blog.
Babylit cleverly uses classic, well loved stories to create educational primers whilst passing down a love of classic literature to a younger generation. Each book is given a theme which is in keeping with the original story but is also adapted to promote development in babies and toddlers alike.
I first encountered these beauties in Jane Austen’s home on a trip to Bath in 2013 and fell in love. I have always been a fan of Austen and remember watching Pride and Prejudice with my mum from a young age. Any parent who shares that love, whether it be for Austen, Bronte or Stoker, will love these books.
With Christmas coming up Little Master Dickens’ A Christmas Carol makes a great stocking filler whether you have your own little Master or Miss at home. Or if you’re looking to embrace Halloween then Dracula or Frankenstein are perfect options.
Alison Oliver’s illustrations, which are just as wonderful as Jennifer Adam’s concepts, can also be purchased as prints, totes, puzzles and more. If you’re looking for a small taster of what the books are like then why not download some of the interactive, playful apps.
